Emiliano Votta, is Associate Professor and member of the Biomechanics Research Group (www.biomech.polimi.it) at Politecnico di Milano, Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering.

Dr Votta is an experienced researcher in cardiovascular biomechanics and in image-based computational modeling of cardiovascular structures. The main goal of his research activities consists in developing tools to improve the understanding of pathological mechanisms, and to support clinical decision making as well as the design of new implantable devices and surgical techniques. Driven by this motivation, Dr. Votta helped developing the 3D and Computer Simulation Laboratory (http://www.biomech.polimi.it/c3d-lab-irccs-policlinico-san-donato#first), which he is currently coordinating.

The laboratory, located in the premises of a hospital (IRCCS Policlinico San Donato), develops cutting-edge engineering approaches thanks to the tight interaction between clinicians and engineers working therein. Dr. Votta is one of the five co-founders of Artiness Srl (www.artinessreality.com), an innovative start-up company and Politecnico spin-off that develops solutions for surgical and transcatheter procedures based on Augmented and Mixed Reality. Dr. Votta is currently the coordinator of the ARTERY EU Project (https://www.artery-project.eu/), funded within the H2020 programme and officially started on January 1st, 2021.
