Joachim Kettenbach received his medical degree 1985 at the Karl-Franzens University Graz/Austria. Beside that he studied 2 years at the Institute of Electrotechnics, Technical University Graz. In 1989 he got licensed as general practitioner and finished his training as radiologist in 1996 at the Department of Radiology, Medical University of Vienna. Following a 2-year research fellowship at the Surgical Planning Lab, Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA he was a senior radiologist at the Interventional Radiology, General Hospital, Medical University of Vienna specialized in MR-guided, oncologic- and vascular interventions. In 2005 he was graduated as Associate Professor of Radiology. In 2008 – 2009 he was the head of the Department of Radiology, Oberpullendorf, Austria. Between 2009 – 2013 he was Chief Physician, Deputy Director and Extraordinarius for Interventional Radiology at the Department of Diagnostic, Interventional and Pediatric Radiology, Univ. Hospital-Inselspital Bern, Switzerland. Thereafter he worked as senior radiologist at the Institute of Medical Radiology, Diagnostic and Intervention, Univ. Hospital, St. Poelten, Austria until 2017. From 2018 to current he is the Director of the Institute of Diagnostic, Interventional Radiology, and Nuclear Medicine at the Landesklinikum Wiener Neustadt, Austria.

Joachim Kettenbach is a member of many national and international radiological and surgical societies. His main radiological and research interests are percutaneous and vascular interventions, as well as computer and robotic-assisted-interventional procedures.
