Fibre-optic medical robots, here in after fibre-bots, are micro scale robotic devices manipulating the tip of a laser fibre for medical applications. Fibre-bots always require a large-power density manipulation mechanism.They are more suitable to use local actuation, which induces relative motion through actuators between different components of a robot. Amplified piezo electrical actuators have good potential as the local actuators of fibre-bots.
